Implementation of the New Translation of the Roman Missal in the Diocese of Arlington

On November 27, 2011, the First Sunday of Advent, the Catholic Church in the United States will begin to use the Third Edition of the Roman Missal. Parishioners are encouraged to learn and prepare by reading resources, attending workshops and praying for our universal Church. The Diocese of Arlington has a special webpage focused specifically on the New Translation of the Roman Missal. Click here for the link to that webpage.

Bishop Loverde has allowed Parishes in the Diocese of Arlington to begin using the new Gloria before Advent. With the Sunday Liturgies on October 8–9th, we started with the Gloria at Saint Rita. While we have placed a paper handout with lyrics and square notation on a four-line staff for the Gloria in the pews, we are also providing you with the following link from Youtube for you to use to practice and follow along, when you’re not at Mass.

Our Faith

Praying The Holy Rosary is one of the greatest gifts we have to fight evil and one of the best acts we can perform. Check out these links, below, courtesy of the Arlington Herald, to get tips and a detailed explanation, and to see the 20 Mysteries illustrated magnificently in stained glass.

Local Art Teacher Paints 12 Oil Portraits of Blessed John Paul II …“He encourages me to continue my faith journey and seek Christ,” O’Connor said. “I prayed to him a lot to help me with this project, and I hope that this is just the beginning for more projects like this.”

Saint Rita Parish Respect Life Group

WE ARE A PEOPLE OF LIFE

The St. Rita Parish Respect Life Group sponsors a variety of parish-wide activities designed to help restore respect for all human life—from the moment of conception until the natural end. Daily, we face threats to life—from abortion and contraception and cloning, to euthanasia and assisted suicide, sex trafficking and infertility, caring for each other and all our loved ones even unto death, to terrorism and war and murder. Our Respect Life webpage has more info, go here.

The Second Look Project has prepared an informative full-color chart detailing the growth in the womb of a new baby. Click here to view the chart. For more information go to www.secondlookproject.org.

PARISH MEMBERSHIP
Welcome to Saint Rita Church! For over 90 years our parish has served the spiritual needs of this community. We invite you to register using the white registration form found at each entrance. Please join us, as together we worship God and grow in love for one another under the protection of our patroness, Saint Rita of Cascia.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Please contact the Rectory Office to make arrangements to attend the baptism preparation class. Families must be registered, practicing members of the parish for at least 3 months prior to having their baby baptized. Please note that it is possible for expectant parents to attend the preparation class before the birth of their child.

SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY
Please contact the Rectory Office to obtain an application to begin marriage preparation. It is necessary that one be a registered, practicing member of the parish at least 3 months before preparation begins. Diocesan regulations require 6 months of marriage preparation. Living together before marriage is sinful and harmful to future marriage. Couples who are living together will be asked to live separately during the marriage preparation time.

HOSPITALIZED AND HOMEBOUND PARISHIONERS
Please notify the Rectory Office so that the hospitalized and homebound may receive pastoral care from the priests and volunteers of Saint Rita Parish.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Please contact the Rectory Office. Sponsor eligibility certificates to serve as baptismal godparents or confirmation sponsors will be issued only to parishioners registered for at least six months and who are attending Sunday Mass weekly.
